New owner in Wyoming

Picked up my new 2016 Titan XD Diesel in Utah on Saturday! What a beautiful truck. We drove it home on Sunday and have been enjoying it. Pulled my dump trailer to the city dump through a bunch of slushy snow and the truck really performed well. I have a lot to learn, but so far I am really impressed.

I appreciate all the info I get from this forum! Thanks!

I got a good deal on the Platinum reserve. It is pretty decked out. Lots of bells and whistles that I probably don't need, but we travel a lot pulling our trailer, so I'm sure we will appreciate the fluff. I am anxious to hook up and get on down the highway! Does anyone know what kind of mileage you might get pulling a 24' house trailer? I know that there is an entire section on the mileage. but just thought I would ask!

Whats the weight of your trailer? I think you should expect somewhere in the low to mid teens depending on weight. There is a thread on here where a guy did some MPG testing with tow. He got a 12-15% better MPGs pulling his trailer at 65.

Congrats on the new truck! I love mine! Currently in the process of moving from SE Wyoming to NW Wyoming and the more miles I put on the thing the better it gets. So far it doesn't seem to matter what I put behind it it just gets somewhere in the 13-14 MPG range.

I don't push it too hard but don't drive like my grandma either. lol

Thanks for all the responses! My trailer weighs in at about 5500lb. I pulled it several thousand miles with my 2014 Chev Silverado 1500 and got around 9 to 10 mpg. Wind really cut that down, and of course straight, flat cruising on a calm day we got around 12 mpg. I have always liked the way a diesel pulls and am hoping that the mpg's are a little better with the Titan. I like what you are getting with yours smsanders!! And at altitude here in Wyoming none the less!!

I had a 2000 Ford 7.3 powerstroke that I drove for 13 years and it would always get between 9 to 10 mpg with a trailer. Interestingly, this Cummins engine has more horsepower and torque than that old Ford did.

You want be disappointed by anything but the small fuel tank. But it gives you more time to get out and admire your new truck..
