titan xd def system error warning

Jan 2nd def issue, drove to dealer with 40 miles left before 5mph max threat, the dealer searched Nissan info, to solve want to replace hold tank and system, located parts, suggested would ship asap, by Monday 9th changed to inform me parts cannot be "tracked" and suggested I contact Nissan direct to get in front of the line on the issue (customer complaints vrs dealer more clout), was told, was referred to specialist to assist me, to date,10th, no word on parts or expected resolved time, up date promised to me by Friday, dealer has been sympathetic and warranty provides small rental car but with snow finally here in Michigan, won't haul snowmobiles north

How many miles do you have on the truck now? Refilled the def a few times already?

I have a 2016, the DEF gauge never moves off full. Dealer sez it is working normal.. 3.5K on the truck. Added DEF at 1300 miles, then again at 3200 miles. Guage never left full.

How much did you add? It doesn't move at first. When it starts to move you can still go several hundred miles

Purchased 2016 XD diesel new in Nov 2016. Received DEF level low warning at approx 2800 mi. Added 2 1/2 gal and warning reset. Now at approx 4400 mi on Jan 11. DEF system warning indicator activated, referred me to dealer. Will do so tomorrow. As DEF level appears to be OK via indicator and shouldn't need additional DEF fluid at this interval, it must be something else.

1000 miles my truck, def gauge showed 25% left, put 2 1/2 gallons in and turn on the ignition and it now shows full again, gauge seems to have been working fine, just dont think the dealer filled it when I bought it in October

Seems like the gauge should give an actual indication of the amount of fluid in the tank and not just when there are several quarts left. My vehicle has 3700 miles on it and I have only added 2.5 gallons (when I added the 2.5, it went back to FULL) while I was on a trip with my RV (seems like that is when it utilizes the most fluid). I guess the only way to reliably fill the tank is to stop by a truck stop where you can get DEF from a pump instead of purchasing from a walmart or someplace.
