Dealers are Crooks!

So I took my truck to a local dealer for a oil change at 2900 miles dropped the truck off and returned home. The service manager sends me a picture of my secondary fuel filter with the o ring sticking out of it. This was not like that before they touched this truck, I've had the hood open many times. How can you drive this without fuel coming out? With the exhaust smell in cab issues I've been all over this thing looking for leaks! There saying that I did this and it's not covered under warranty. My response was you did this to rip me off, fix it now and I will not pay a dime. I can't wait to file a formal complaint against these idiots! The is Sheehy Nissan in WhiteMarsh, Maryland. Don't ever use this dealership! I'm waiting for a response from the service manager now as what they're going to do. I am so pissed right now!

Wow,
I do not doubt you at all, but I have to ask the question, and it is in no way accusatory towards you, because I believe you
How much could they possibly charge to fix an oring? In this case, I imagine a lot, if they are telling you, and saying it is outside of warranty.

Why would they even charge anything to simply tuck the oring back in if they ran across such an issue.
Why would they care to do it.
In the long run, the dealership would be better off to tell you they saw this, and took care of it for you, "No charge" because it only take a minute.

Here's the picture. The oil dip stick is right next to the o ring. The oil was check last weekend and the o ring was not like that. I just talked with the dealer manager, they're fixing it no cost no questions asked. He knows I'm right and I hope someone gets fired over it.

Here's some back ground. When I dropped the truck off for the oil change they wanted to change fuel filters too for $ of course. I said no, I will change them my self at 10k miles. The mechanic there told me that the dealer needed to do it wasn't "do it your self". I declined. While talking with him he was positive there was no water separator on the truck, and there was no service interval on the oil based on time. So twice I told him he was wrong not rudely mind you. And this is what I got.

Something I do not, and have never understood, is that there is plenty of business working on vehicles either through warranty, or out of warranty for any honest mechanic, or repair business to do quite well. So much that there is not any need to be unscrupulous. It simply makes no sense.
I know dealership are run by sales people, and I assume the natural dishonesty carries over to the service side. But a decent honest repair shop can make a fortune simply being honest.
Of course i think dealership sales side could do well being honest also, but fear that dishonesty is so entrenched, that it is not possible to fix that.

All done and have my truck back but not without more drama. So after talking to the dealer manager over the phone and they agreed to make everything right, the service manager calls and says they can't fix it today. They don't have a new filter to install and I'll have to wait till Monday. I wanted back today so they bought the filter set I had of my own and changed both first and second stage filters. I honestly feel sorry for the service manager and I'm pretty sure the mechanic was the idiot that did this, I'm not sure why? When I got to the dealer with the filters the dealer manager and service manager very apologetic, offered me a complete detailing for free and kissing a$$. I could see through a window into the service area and I never saw the tech I had talked to earlier again in the shop, another tech and the service manager were at my truck.

Yes there are others and no I will never go back to this one. Never trust a mechanic with a bar code tattooed on the back of his neck.
