Mileage, Regens, and More

2016 Titan XD SL trim 2WD
Build date: 6/16
Current ODO 1343 miles
Towing Miles: 0 miles
Lifetime MPG: 17.8 mpg <according to dash computer>
Best MPG: 21.8mpg (road tripping)
Worst MPG: 9.8mpg (regen)
Regen count: 2 (ODO -> 460 miles and 1100miles)
DEF useage: None yet
Normal Drive cycle: very close to 50-50 city and highway
Location: Tennessee USA

Observations;
Some things I have noticed with Regeneration modes. Both times I have tracked how long it takes to get out of Regen mode. The first time I was near the house and I ended up shutting it down early. After restart the ECM did not restart the Regen until the truck warmed up.
Both times the regen cycle went exactly 20 miles to complete and had no bearing on drive cycle or time. If you hit a Regen cycle it appears to be helpful to go ahead and try and push another 20 miles to complete it. (curious to other observation)

Problems;
Engine flare up during cold shifts.
Fixed by dealer with reflash. No problems since
Door speaker blown.
Replaced by dealer with new speaker. No problems since.
Passenger interior handle pops/loose
Have not had a chance to take it for a fix yet.

Modifications;

Extang 44701 Trifecta bed cover

If you reply please use a similar format (if you are looking for build date it is on the exterior B-pillar label with VIN).
I think this is a good way to convey information.
Thanks,
-James

2016 Titan XD Pro4X with utility/audio & comfort/convenience pkgs
Build date: Nov2015
Purchase Date: Feb2016
Current ODO 18400 miles
Towing Miles: 1500 miles
Lifetime MPG: 15-16 mpg (est)
Best MPG: 24.2 mpg (hwy trip)
Worst MPG: 10ish mpg during regen, 12ish towing 7k lbs
Regen count: 20 ish - seems to be about once per 500mi, unless towing/working hard
DEF useage: approx 8ea 2.5gal jugs (about 1k mi/gal of DEF)
Normal Drive cycle: 30% city / 70% hwy. Of the 70% hwy, 30-40% traffic, 60-70% wide open
Location: Portland, Oregon

Observations:
Love this truck. Very comfortable. Not as quick as my 1st gen Titan, but cruises and tows much better. Throttle response and overall feel improved noticeably from about 4k miles through 7k miles. How did I ever survive without heated seats and steering wheel?!

Issues / Problems:
Front end alignment - slight pull to the right as was encountered by many early Pro4X owners. Didn't realize it was an issue till I saw the reports of it on this site and checked into it.
Had the electronic tailgate lock replaced.
Cold transmission flare corrected with TCM update
Integrated trailer brake controller - does not work with Electric over hydraulic trailer brakes contrary to published specs. Dealer installed an aftermarket controller until issue is resolved (dealer is still looking into it with NNA).

Modifications:
Added oval, cab length OEM step rails
Installed Decked bed drawer system
Husky liners

2016 Titan XD PR trim 4WD Diesel
Build date: 8/16
Purchase date 12/20/2016 so yes just over a month ago.
Current ODO 6300 miles
Towing Miles: 2600 miles
Lifetime MPG: 16 MPG
Best MPG: 19.9mpg (road tripping)
Worst MPG: 8.0mpg (Towing)
Regen count: 10 maybe?
DEF usage: ~18 Gallons
Normal Drive cycle: mostly city except for one LONG towing/Road trip
Location: Tampa FL soon to be Denver CO full time.

Observations;
Never had a lack of power from the engine when towing although the computerized torque control is difficult to learn to use effectively. I don't know if the computer is learning me or i am learning it.
Towing MPG is better than full 2500's from the competition but not by much.
Seats are very comfy even on 12+ hour days.
DEF usage is hard to predict and the gauge is way to quick to drop from 100% or 90% to 20%. I'll stay on full for 2 weeks and within 3 hours i drop to 25 or 20%.
Value compared to the big three: Excellent IMO. I got a 2016 PR 4x4 for just under 45k + tax out the door in Florida.
When towing a 7k+ trailer from Tampa FL to Denver CO ranging from 65 to 80 MPH depending on speed limits and cops visibilty, my mileage ranged from 12mpg in FL and AL to 10mpg in TN and AR and then down to 8mpg in OK, KS and CO. Altitude, headwinds and hills make a pretty big difference. I saw the DTE change from 500 miles to empty starting the trip in FL down to a VERY low 181 Distance to empty after a fill up in KS. This thing NEEDS a bigger fuel tank.
I had no issues with cold starts in Denver down to 7 degrees sitting overnight in a hotel parking lot with NO block heater plugged in.
I did the IKE run from Dillion CO down and engine braking was a touch hard to engage... but when it did it was excellent. I averaged 33.6mpg coming down from the IKE tunnel to Bennet CO in the plains.

Problems;
Heated steering wheel.. the leather part warms up but the wood part remains cold. Dealer told me its normal.
The front heated seats are subpar for heat delivery... they work ok but i was expecting better. The rear seat heater is the bomb though. Dealer also said this was normal.
DEF tank sensor triggered a CK engine light. Dealer reset it and said if it happened again to bring it back.
The in bed storage boxes are a pain to get closed and stay closed. I find them open while driving too often. Need to take it to dealer for adjustments if they can.
Every interior light should be LED... i swapped mine out and the difference is night and day. There is no excuse for mixing LED and those old style bulbs in this truck.

Modifications;
I had it hand waxed... i swear it was faster after that.
LED bulbs all around from Amazon fixing the half LED, half not mess.

Owned since Dec 2016
Current ODO 1250 miles
Towing Miles: 0 miles
Lifetime MPG: 13.6 mpg average from Fuelly App
Best MPG: 19.8 mpg road trip mainly all highway
Worst MPG: 5 (regen)
Regen count: 4-5, haven't kept track but now know when

Observations;
Still some bugs to be worked. Knew what I was getting when buying 1st year model. Truck is fast when need be, size is perfect for me, Need some coding done for sure.

Problems;
DEF error twice, found out % was too high. Drained, refilled no more issues. Nissan doesn't allow you to mod your own settings. I could not find a place to turn off Auto Door lock after driving, passenger can't input address on nav screen while in motion ( truck knows when a pass. is in seat, should enable nav to be used )

Modifications;
Auto Door Lock feature turned off by Nissan Tech.

Nissan Accessories;
None yet!
