New TCM Flash

There is an updated TSB for a TCM reprogram.

Only applies to Diesel/6AT
Applies to all 2016's and some 2017's(4WD built before Sept. 30/16, 2WD built before Oct.01/16.)

Any of the following symptoms apply to the TSB:

200-500 rpm flare during 1-2, 2-3, and/or 3-4 shifts when fluid temp is below 60C (140F).

When slowing to a stop, a 2-1 downshift bump is felt just before stopping.

Harsh up-shifts.

Shift shock when lifting foot from the accelerator.

Gear hunting while driving in city traffic.

If your TCM part number is listed in the bulletin than there is an updated program to correct these issues.

And before you ask, the TCM needs to be scanned to get the current part number.

I reprogramed my truck last week with the up date. It runs much smoother through the gears but you can still feel it shift more so that most 1/2 trucks. Im very happy with the new program.

It is a heavy duty transmission and will never shift like a 1/2 ton. Also the dealer should have explained or given you a copy of the last page of the bulletin that explains the adaptive learning procedures of the TCM. The TCM will learn your driving habits and adapt the software to them over the next 1600 kms (1000 miles).

I actually like that it doesn't shift like a half ton. Kinda reminds me that I got a little more truck for my money

When you say 'learn your driving habits', what does than mean?
Is it learning how fast I like to accelerate from 0 to 60km/h and adjust the shifting point accordingly?
How do I make the transmission learn that I like to have it down shift aggressively as soon as I remove my foot from the gas pedal? Or that it should upshift as soon as I level up at 35 and 60km/h?

What happen if I do my 1600km in stop and go traffic vs towing a trailer on a long trip on a flat (or hilly) highway?

I miss my manual transmission...

They should make user customizable transmission profile: stop & go traffic, city, highway flat, highway hill, towing, forest road, etc...

Minimally, they should give us the ability to upshift.

It mean's it learns your driving habits & will adjust the pressures, shifting sequences, ect ect. All modern automatics do the same thing to some degree.

I reprogramed my own truck as I work for Nissan. I know how they are supposed to shift, I was just letting everyone know what to expose from the reprogram. Some seem to think that they should shift like an Infiniti but its a HD truck. To start the adaptive learning the truck must be driven at 55+mph for 5 miles or more before it will start learning.
