Looks like they released pricing at the autoshow to be about $5000 cheaper for the gas version.
That's less of a price gap then I anticipated.

That price difference is exactly where I expected it. It makes the gas Titan very competitive in the 1/2 ton category while having lots of capability. Bravo Nissan.

I wonder what the regular titan tow specs will be?
Maybe same as first generation around 9000lbs max.
That seems dumb but at the same time they won't wanna cannibalize sales from the XD...regular half ton should be with current competition, which is all around 10k right?

Give the XD a year or two to mature in its segment. It will creep up on specs. From what information we have been told and collected is the XD can tow more then its rating. However what they spec'd it for it can do all day everyday safety with anyone behind the wheel. if load is properly placed, balanced & driven by a good drive who knows how to operate a diesel. Should be able to go over.

So basically a 1000 lb decrease in towing and a 500 lb increase in payload, am I right? I will tak the extra payload anyday.

Thanks! Now THIS version may actually be able to tow a 5th wheel.
Except that the tow rating went down. The diesel could tow (roughly, depending on model as we all know) 11k-12k and 10k with a 5er. So now the gasser can tow less overall but more with a 5er. I'm not sure that does many people that good.

Lets face it, there are plenty 10k lbs or less 5th wheels out there. 20% of that weight is 2,000 lbs. The ONLY XD diesel model (crew cab obviously) that is rated for 2k lbs payload is the S version. This is also not taking into account a 5th wheel hitch, extra people, dogs, gear, etc...

So in essence, the gas model makes much more sense for this application. The payload allows for max loads that will be seen with 5th wheel near the max tow ratings. Also, this is pretty uniform throughout all of the XD gas trim levels. All but the 4x4 PR has ABOVE 2k lbs payload.

The Diesel version will only allow 8k to 9k lbs 5th wheels before maxing out the trucks payload numbers (assuming 20% load in the bed).

I wonder too. 1st gen was 9500 but that wasn't to the J2807 standard. They'll probably be 9000ish SAE since it looks like the old frame is going to be used over.

I wonder what the MPG will be like. I was really looking at a midsize, but I'm loving what the Titan XD is putting down. Diesel just isn't my thing.

Yea gas versions tend to use up more fuel. What do you mean diesel isn't your thing. If it is more efficient, why not?
