Bought a used 23 xd with 55,000 miles now. Very clean, thought it was shifting late. Did the TCM reset with the gas pedal and it seems better, but still want to at least drain/fill. Anyone mixing valvoline maxlife with the factory fill ( matic s)? I tried to fill out a new member page, and it disappeared

I might be mistaken but the reset procedure you mentioned is for Nissan vehicles with a CVT. To reset the TCM on the XD you either can use a scan tool or simply disconnect the negative battery terminal for several minutes then reconnect. The transmission will then be placed Into a Relearn Mode for the next few hundred miles relearning your driving habits and will adjust shift points accordingly. The 6-speed Aisin Transmission in our trucks (If you have a Diesel) or the 9-speed Jatco (Gas) is constantly learning and adjusting shift points, pressures, etc. accordingly based on driving habits. Disconnecting the battery and allowing the TCM to fully discharge simply clears any “Learned” behavior so it may start fresh. As for the fluid, I personally am not a fan of multi-vehicle fluids for the Aisin Transmission and only purchase the recommended Nissan 999MP-MAT00S Matic K ATF (NOT Matic S) and if you have the Jatco the correct fluid is Nissan 999MP-MTP10P Matic P ATF. Hope this helps

You are correct, matic p. I thought I read the reset was for the 9 speed as well. Anyway, it still seems some of the shifts are delayed compared to others. There is no shift flare and no slipping. Just higher rpms on some shifts. Still getting used to this truck. Just one tank of gas ( by me) driving so far, but I like it. Sold my 2500 laramie cummins and bought this. I miss the diesel, but the maintenance didn’t make sense. This truck is as nice as the Ram in my opinion
