Discussion Starter #1 (Edited)
While everyone has an opinion about what oil and oil filter to use, how long to use it and so on; this thread is not here to debate what is better or worse nor how long you should be using it. That has been discussed in hundreds, if not thousands of threads online about this and boils down to mostly personal opinion from using brand XXX or recommendations from their mechanic or the manufacturer on what to run and how long to run it.

Call it what you wish but Synthetic Motorsports is truly here to help. We want to give you OPTIONS when it comes time for your next oil change. Synthetic Motorsports has been an independent AMSOIL Direct Jobber Dealer for over nine years now and promotes and uses AMSOIL Full Synthetic Lubricants.

If AMSOIL is not for you, we certainly appreciate that and thank you stopping by to read our thread.

This week we are going to talk about AMSOIL EaO Oil Filters.

Some of the benefits of an AMSOIL EaO Oil Filter are

  • Reduced engine wear.
  • Trap smaller contaminants.
  • Hold more contaminants.
  • Help extend engine life.
Now, there are basically three things to think about when you talk about filters. One is the what they are made of, their efficiency and finally capacity.

Let first talk about what filters are made of. Most filters on the market today are made of a cellulose material. Cellulose fibers are larger and have larger irregular spaces between them allowing particles to get caught or buried into it reducing flow and capacity. This results in limited resistance and is one critical piece to good filtration.

AMSOIL EaO filters are made of a synthetic media. Synthetic media have smaller fibers a uniform shape and size. This allows particles to get trapped on the face of the media, versus buried in it and by this, allows for less restriction, greater efficiency and capacity.

Now lets talk about efficiency. The industry standard ISO 4548-12 says a filter should trap 80% of contaminants down to 20 microns. For reference purposes, a human hair is about 40 microns. There is a graph below that shows what some filters are capable of based on this standard. The more efficient your filter is, the more contaminants it will hold. AMSOIL EaO filters are some of the most efficient filters on the market, trapping over 98% of contaminants down to 20 microns. That is nearly perfect absolute efficiency rating and and is critical is other critical piece to good filtration.

Finally, lets talk about capacity or how much the filter can hold and still remain effective. When a filter reaches maximum capacity, if not changed, oil will flow through the filter unfiltered, leaving those particles and crud in your oil. Because of the synthetic nano-fiber media, AMSOIL EaO Oil Filters have a greater capacity than a other filters and will flow, or last longer than cellulose made filters.

Proper oil flow is critical to lubrication. Poor filter quality with inadequate flow can cause damage to your motor. AMSOIL EaO Oil Filters allow for maximum efficiency without restricting flow. Now think about a cold morning start. A filter that has less restriction is going to get oil moving quicker than one that has a higher restriction, reducing wear when it first cranks up.

When using AMSOIL EaO Oil Filters for the 5.0L Cummins, they are designed to last up to 1 year or up to 25000 miles depending on normal or severe service and come with a limited liability warranty.

If I can answer any questions about AMSOIL EaO Oil Filters, please don't hesitate to ask.
