I have a 16 xd pro 4x that is having trouble starting when the temp drops to 10 F and below. So far I have been towed to the dealer two times in 4 days. It seems like is turning over fast enough to start but only for one start then it gets slower and slower and finally after 4 or 5 attempts won't even crank at all. The first time the dealer charged the batteries changed both fuel filters ($160) and load tested both batteries for me and sent me on my way. Two days later dead as a door nail. . I have put a whole container of anti gel in after just to make sure (I have been using it right along) its not geling up. The dealers say the batteries are good and won't replace em, so I would assume they are going to blame it on fuel (which could be my problem) Its at the dealer right now we will se what they say after the new year. ANY IDEAS on how to handle Nissan ?

When you go to start it first thing do you cycle the glow plugs a time or 2 before you put your foot on the brake and push start? If I do this I usually don't have an issue. Also a block heater would benefit you. The early 16's didn't come stock (so they say) with a block heater because it doesn't get cold enough here (wtf) ... Its pretty freaking cold imo...

Well here is a up date so far the truck has been towed in 4 times for failure to start. Sometimes it will start, even at -10 F and sometimes at 10 above it just wont start. The tech at my local dealer has given up and now a Nissan specialist has been called in to find the problem. So far he hasn't found anything of any value. Has anyone had problems like this??? I've had FORD DODGE and GMC Diesels this one is the worst. The has basically been at the dealer since the day after Christmas and Easter is coming.

I had to install a block heater at my own expense and anytime the temps are getting close to 0'F I have to plug it in, otherwise it won't start. I have a 2016 PR.

I live in Colorado and had to fight with my 2018 Cummins XD several times this winter. I live at 9,000+ feet and it's sub-zero often, sometimes for weeks. I started running Howe's Lubricator Diesel Treat with every tank and it seemed to eliminate the problem for me. However, I know that if you live where it gets cold enough to gel diesel, you're supposed to change fuel filters per the manufacturer's "Extreme Conditions" maintenance schedule.

Good diesel additive video on YouTube here: Project Farm Diesel Additive Performance Comparison

I also added a NOCO GENM1 is an On-Board trickle charger (1-Bank, 4 Amp). It's designed for under-hood direct-mounting. It's supposed to be an fully-automatic weatherproof smart-charger with "desulfation" capabilities and Cold/Hot automatic weather compensation. So far, it seems to work great.

I wanted a heater cord with my 17 pro, it had the heater, but no cord. They would not budge for 45 bucks Nissan cord, I could not believe it. I found on at Amazon 29 bucks works like a champ.

Here is what I learned on my truck. The fuel gels at the top filter housing. Right at the inlet/outlet lines on the back of the alum housing under the hood. I put a heat gun pointed to that area for 5-10 mins and it fires right up. I was puzzled like you and put new batteries in and changed filters and such. It cranks fast but gets no fuel.
