Hey all,

I purchased my 2016 Nissan Titan XD Pro4X Cummins with all 3 major Pro4X packages about 6 weeks ago. Since then I've put over 2,000 miles on the truck and am pretty satisfied with it overall. So far I haven't done much to the truck, but rest assured this truck won't remain stock for long. I can never leave well enough alone with my vehicles.

I plan to set my truck up for all around capability/mild overlanding and will do all the work on the truck myself whenever possible...despite a crazy work schedule. Though I plan to eventually go with a much better suspension system (I'm waiting to see if anybody produces something comparable or better than the Icon Stage III within the next year), I decided my first modification would be a Tough Country 2/1 level in the interim. The truck is still up on jacks in the garage with the install complete on 3 out of 4 corners. (A note for the pic with the key chain ring...I just snapped a pic of my quick fix after I broke one of the stock cottering pins during removal)

I plan to document any and every modification here as well as my experiences as a Titan XD owner and overall truck and outdoor/offroad enthusiast. I look forward to the journey ahead.

Here are a few install pics to start the thread off.

...guess I'll have to go buy a few spares. I'm sure I will be removing those bolts again.

Yeah their pricing is a bit high. They offer a great product though. I had a stage IV on my Ram 1500...it was light years better than stock. I wish Carli Suspension would build a monster kit for the XD.

I have the RC 2/1 on and drove it around the block a bit. I never measured the fender clearance stock, but it seems like the front was raised a little more than 2". As it sits now the front is 1/2" higher than the rear...as measured from the top of the tire to the fender. I do have about 600 lbs of wheels/tires & gear in the bed of the truck so maybe it will sit flush empty.

I just had the 295/70R18 Cooper STT Pro tires mounted. I just drove it a few miles home so I can't really tell if there is rubbing anywhere. If there is it's not major. I removed the front mud flaps before installation. The tire clearance to the UCA is nonexistent with the thick sidewall tread pattern on the STT Pros, but they fit. I may shave the lip off the UCAs to provide a few more millimeters of clearance. My initial impression is this is the perfect size tire for a 2/1 leveled Titan XD. IMO it looks like what I think an offroad package should be from the factory.

Despite the downpour I snapped a few pics for your viewing pleasure before parking her in the garage.

I also like the size because it fits on the stock rim. The recommended wheel width for the tire is 7.5-10 so the Pro4X wheel just qualifies.

I just took a look. There is no evidence of any coil bucket contact. I haven't taken it off road yet but I have hit a few large speed bumps at speeds that would likely have resulted in contact if it were possible.

I have never liked the chrome emblems that most auto manufacturers put on their vehicles. I completely debadged my Ram, but since I had a few cans of matte black plasti dip left over from dipping my stock Ram wheels previously, I decided to plasti dip my XD emblems.

The process was fairly easy, but care and patience were required. You need a fair number of coats to get it thick enough to peel off the paint with ease. Here is a link showing the method I used:

I ended up dipping the two side Titan XD emblems as well as the Titan XD and Pro4X emblems on the back. I haven't messed with the Cummins or Nissan emblems yet...not sure if I will or not. All I have to do now is clean up the residue surrounding the emblems.

Yes, plasti dip is surprisingly durable. It can come off but if applied correctly should last for several years at least.

Since I'm taking a few weeks off work I decided to order ahead some of the fluids/lubricants I will need for future maintenance. I bought a 6 month Amsoil preferred customer membership and ordered 5 gallons OE 10W-30 Synthetic Diesel Oil, 15 quarts OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid, & 5 quarts Severe Gear® 75W-90. It definitely wasn't cheap...about $300 after tax and shipping. Now I just need to order the oil/fuel filters. After that I should be good to go for a while.

I just requested an engine oil analysis kit. I think I will change my oil at around 2500 miles and see what the analysis yields. After that I will probably stick to the service interval the truck computer tells me. ...and of course I will document the results here.

I just called the bank and paid off my auto loan. I hadn't even made the first payment yet.

...feels good to have my home mortgage as my only debt again.

(actually I bought my XD on a Saturday so I couldn't move money around to pay cash...hence the loan. It's sad I can't access my own money when I want, but I sure as **** can get a loan for a bazillion dollars in 5 minutes...:frown2:)

Like your choice of oil/gear lube . I have been using amsoil for years , When I did my oil change a month ago I used 10/30 and also dumped my rear gear lube, severe duty 75-90 . Did have metal on magnets on both drain and fill plugs. Nothing major just the fine machining residue, fluid had turned from amber to cloudy appearance, 10,000 miles on it at fluid change. doing oil analysis at 15,000.

I was having difficulty finding Fleetguard/Cummins filters online so I decided to buy the Nissan filters. The nearest dealership wanted A LOT for them...$20 for the oil filter, $6X.XX for one of the fuel filters and $7X.XX for the other!!! I'm definitely not purchasing anything there. I ended up ordering everything off nissanpartsdeal.com for less than half of what the dealership was charging. I ordered 2x oil filters and 1 of each fuel filter. I plan to just change the oil and oil filter at 2,500 miles, change the oil/oil filter/& fuel filters at 10,000 miles, then change it as the truck computer tells me to after that.
