The point of this post is a frame work for anyone else that wants to install a EGT gauge. Its inspired by the work @Bods has already put forth in the Oil Pressure & EGT thread plus the findings of him and @NavyCuda around our oil pressure sensor being a single wire switch. If anyone wants to add their own install, EGT probe location, wiring or anything else its most welcome. The only thing I ask is to include good photos, people love to see photos.
My plan is to copy Bods' location of the EGT probe, about 3 inches below the outlet on the down pipe behind the inner fender well on the passenger side. I will use the factory oil pressure switch port to get my oil pressure readings, and most likely will drill and tap the side of the intake manifold right before the secondary fuel filter for my boost pressure sensor.
Glowshift 3 in 1 analog EGT - I went with this due to the simplicity, plus how condensed everything is. Personally, don't like running 3 different gauges.
M18x1.5 Female to M18x1.5 male extension - Has to be drilled and tapped for 1/8 npt to fit the Glowshift sensor.
1/8 - 27 npt Tap - This is the tap needed to add the EGT probe and boost sensor.
Window mount gauge pod - Plan to mount it on the window, next to the A pillar about mid way down. The idea is to be removable in the future if need be.
Suction Cup base - Included sticky pad for gauge pod will not stick to window for long
Pyro extended wiring - The included pyro wiring is to short for a pillar mount or window mount.
Wiring should be straight forward, these gauges require ground, constant hot, switched hot & head light power. If you have a phoenix head unit like I do, all of these are already present and marked off. The phoenix harness has one spare wire marked switch hot. Yellow and black that go into the main harness can easily be tapped into. If your using a factory radio, things are a little tougher. It will require some digging in the factory service manual. Headlight switched is going to require some digging, will update when I figure it out.
Once I get everything and start on the install, I will update this thread with pictures.
