Wanted to write my pelimary review on the Icon Lift. I'll update post for a long term update down the road.

Kit Overview:

This kit is more of a leveling kit, but done the right way. I knew this going into it, but I wanted a full suspension upgrade, not just spacers. Rear is a fixed lift as it simple adds a 1" block under leaf springs to gain height. On the rear you also get a full shock replacement with piggy back. The rear is pretty straight forward. Install it and never think about it again as there are no post install adjustments.

The front gives you UCA's along with full coil overs. On their website, Icon says 2-3" Lift. This is accomplished by providing an adjustable collar on spring that can be spun to provide up to 3" lift.

Overall I'm very happy with quality of kit and the install is straight forward (although I did have a shop install for me).

What I would like to see from Icon is 2 different blocks for the rear of truck. One 1" block (already includes) and a 2" block. The reason for this is how the front setup operates. If I put front at 3", I end up with a Cali lift (front 1" higher than rear). I think Lift would be perfect with 3" in front and 2" in rear so it sets itself apart from a $150 leveling kit height wise. Not sure it's this easy to just put 2" block on rear, but it would be nice.

Ride Quality:

I wasn't sure what to expect from kit. I've riden in full 3/4 ton trucks and they ride like crap. This was one big positive with XD, you get many features of 3/4 ton with 1/2 ton ride quality.

Keep in mind kit is new and is not broken in so Ride will likely improve. First thing I noticed was a little more "bouncy" feeling cruising side streets. I was a little annoyed, but then I hit my first big dip in road and was blown away. Just freaking eats it like nothing. Same with speed bumps, just eats em. So loose a little ride quality in the real small road bumps, huge gains everywhere else. I'm also having an alignment issue that I'm going back for. They didn't do a good job here and likely because shop that aligned didn't have specs for XD. I'm doing dealer or another shop once suspension settles to fine tune.

I can wait to get a trailer behind this thing and I'm sure it will be very well mannered over stock.

Would I buy it again?...yes but.

Kit is actually pieced together when ordered. I would order Stage 3 shocks for rear so I can adjust compression when pulling 10k lbs. Stage 2 can be rebuilt with Stage 3 stuff, but would have been nice to have thought about it beforehand.

Also, why in the **** doesn't Icon include spanner wrench? I mean seriously. Had to buy on Amazon to adjust front suspension. Speaking of, it's a huge pain to adjust even with wheel at full droop. 4 complete turns on spring collar will net you about 2" Lift in front. I have mine at 3 and ended up with 1.75" Lift. This gives me a tiny bit of rake so when I load it up, the front isn't popped way up over rear. Also doing this it made suspension feel tighter which is a good thing. Didn't care for the feel of suspension with collar all the way up (1" Lift).

Up next wheels/tires.

if you crank it up to 3" it'll ride like ****. (ride quality is always subjective but still, mucho preload always ruins the ride of your pricey coilovers)

Coilovers are meant for function, not to make the truck look cool. although they do look cool, so trying to get a ton of lift is pointless with them. not to mention the uppers and lowers will bind and you'll destroy your cv's and stress the steering from the increased angles.

The bouncier street feeling is probably due to the digressive valving ICON runs in their shocks.

Have you tried it without the sway bar now that you've got stiffer shocks up front?

the kit won't break in, it is what it is. you'll just get used to it. the shocks use spherical bearings instead of rubber bushings, which means more feedback to the truck. everything is tighter and more precise. which can make the ride a bit harsh feeling.

No it wont ride any worse. I talked to them at iCON and the travel is linear so they will operate the same between 1.75 and 3". However it will increase the angle of the CVs which is why I chose a 6" spindle lift instead.

Ride is nothing to complain about by any means. Just wanted to warn others that it does slightly decrease side street quality. The reason I wanted to call this out is many others that put Icon kits on 4runners etc rave about how much better it rides. It sure handles bigger stuff much better though.

I don't think binding will be any issue as icon is very clear how much preload you can put on these shocks. If you go above 1/2" on collar (3" of Lift) you'll have binding issues and destroy things. I think 2" is good in front, but 3" would look nicer and be within specs for this kit. Just need to do something on rear if you want to run 3" in front.

I just installed ICON Stage 1 Premium which includes new UCA's. I was told that Coil Overs as received was zero lift and that turning adjusting collar lifts 1/4" per full revolution. Hence I would need to make 12 turns to get full 3 inch lift.

Are you saying it would be 2" lift with no adjustments i.e. no threads showing? And adjusting just 4 turns, meeting max 1/2 inch shown threads from top is 3" lift?

preloading the spring to change ride height will affect ride. you also change how much droop vs bump travel you have. preloading it takes away your droop travel, which means if you hit a pothole you might run out of droop, which means the front end will fall into the hole, which means a **** ride. but wtf do i know.

glad you like the kit. ICON seems to build great kits for OEM use. people fail to realize that when you run a off road oriented setup the on street ride is gonna be stiffer.

Yes, it has a drop bracket and the spindles are lengthened so the truck is effectively lifted but the suspension geometry remains exactly the same. The only geometry change is the drive line has a bit more of an angle.

Stage 1

I am running the Icon Stage One with the delta joint Upper Control Arms. i also have the 5000 Ultimate Airbags.

I've been running it for quite a few thousand miles now and I really like it. I towed my fifth wheel 7 hours not long ago, and I don't believe it had any affect on towing, again I have the Airbags. The kit is very well built and very high quality; I did a lot of research before I dropped that much money on a lift.

Overall I am very happy with the kit and lift. As for how much will Nissan charge..well my kit plus the UCA is what 2800 so assume a Nissan Markup and add their ridiculous labor which usually doesn't include the alignment, that's extra.
