I have a 2018 Titan XD SV that I replaced the stereo with a Pioneer with 7" screen. The factory tailgate camera is pretty low spec. compared to what is available aftermarket now and what my new unit can display. I would like to replace it with aftermarket one that will mount in the existing oem position. The only problem is using the existing wiring with new camera. Has anyone hardwired a camera into that or found a aftermarket adapter connector that will work. The cameras being offered to plug and play for replacement have very low specs compared to the universal ones out there.

I saw those but still poor performance compared to the $35 .01 to .005 lux night vision or starlight high definition cameras that work in dark without lights on. I have that on my Frontier and it works really good. They fit in the factory opening but won't wire up with existing. Don't want to have to run additional wiring from front to back.

I made my own by using the factory bracket that the factory rear camera is attached to. I've had it for years with no issue when I installed pioneer 8600nex and the quality is night and day difference. It fits through the factory spot perfectly too. Here is the link to the one I used, shows unavailable but I'm sure you can find a similar one to it.

There is a write up somewhere on this forum that I followed of someone else doing it that showed what wires did what. I clipped the factory connector on the factory camera side and spliced it into the new camera, then it plugged into the same spot as before.

Just had my installer come out and do this install using these directions works great. He did just reuse the plug from old OEM camera with butts connectors and sealing heat shrink tube. And bolted the camera in using bracket supplied with it. And had to step power up from factory 6v to 12v required by aftermarket camera. But now I've got a much better picture on my unit.- Thanks for the info.
