Has anyone installed the OEM step? From watching the AMP Research videos, it appears that there's just a couple of bolts that get pulled out to mount the assembly, but they show it for a Dodge and Toyota; not for the Titan. Going to get one, but would like to know what's involved with installation (couldn't find installation instructions online).

Best to call up the parts department at your local Nissan dealer and ask them for installation instructions.

Yes, bought it from the parts counter and installed it in 10 minutes. Super easy, comes with instructions.

Yes I installed an oem step on my XD. The instructions came in the package. Really quite simple and you're right, it's only a few bolts around the bumper.

Hmmmm looks like Nissan must have some agreement with Amp Research to label their bed step as a Nissan OEM product, but Amp can't sell their own version of it. Amp's own site doesn't list their bed step as compatible with the Titans.... http://www.amp-research.com/products/truckaccessories/bedstep/ The step tread pattern is a bit different, but the size & shape of the step and extending hinge looks to be the same.

It was probably a business decision by Amp to secure a guaranteed OEM contract to make X number of bed steps. If I remember correctly, Amp is the the OEM manufacturer for the GM & Ford motorized running boards.

Just ordered the OEM from the dealer. We'll see how it goes.

OK, I got the kit yesterday (999T7 W4800) and am getting ready to assemble/install it, and hit a small problem: There's an extra part. It appears to be a spacer plate, however nowhere in the documentation is this thing mentioned. Not even included in the parts list.

Dimensions are 3.0" x 1.52" x 0.34". I.D. of holes are 0.5"

Here are some pics of it:

NEWS FLASH: While writing this, I just went out to www.nissan-techinfo.com and did a search and it turns out there's apparently a newer kit than that advertised on their website - which includes this spacer plate. The new kit number is 999T7 W4820. Here's the link to the new installation instructions. It shows the spacer plate (E), as well as the new part number: http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/asistgc_1/USENG/diskdocs/1/V/C/1VC14.PDF

A search for this new part number comes up blank on both nissanusa.com as well as a google search in general.

The old instructions were Rev. 9/17/2015 (999T7 W4800II Rev 9/17/2015). The new instructions are (999T7 W4820II Rev. 5/13/2016). Looks like they shipped me the latest kit - but with the older instructions.

Successfully installed with no problems - other than the bolts being torqued to 101 ft/lbs! Real bitch to get off. I torqued them back on as close as I could get to 101 ft/lbs while lying on my back. The design is very well thought out. They have a plastic retainer clip that holds down a cable run. You pinch that off to remove it, and a bolt from the bracket goes into that hole. The bracket then has another hole right next to it that the plastic retainer clip goes into. MUCH easier getting into the bed of the truck now.

I installed mine on Friday and didn't see a need for that spacer. I didn't see it in my instructions either so left it out. The bolts they supplied were the same size as the ones you take off. seems to me they should of been a little longer to make up for the plate. Since it does not hit my bumper without the plate I will just leave it as is. Love the step though

Is the step hitch reversible to install on the passenger side as well? I would like to install one but the door on my camper shell opens to the driver side and the step would be of little assistance then.

No. Driver side only.

Any chance you still have that spacer? I just installed a kit that didn't have one and it presses up against the bumper. I think I'd rather have a little space.

No, sorry. I ended up using it - once I re-read the correct instructions.

Does the step work any good when the tailgate is down? Just got a tool box that sits under my tonneau cover and will need to get into my truck often
Yes. Works with tailgate up or down. Folds up/down very easily.
